Pine Hill Cemetery in Haunted New Hampshire

Haunted Pine Hill Cemetery

History
Also known as “Blood Cemetery”, Pine Hill Cemetery is rumored to be one of the most haunted locations in New Hampshire. The cemetery is built on land that was donated for the purpose of creating a place where people could bury their loved ones. The nickname “Blood Cemetery” comes from a man named Abel Blood, who is buried at Pine Hill Cemetery alongside his wife, Betsy. Other members of the Blood family are also buried there. Several people believe the Blood family was murdered, hence the ominous moniker. The cemetery is the resting place of many of the locals. Unfortunately, many of the headstones and gravemarkers have been worn down to the point of not being able to identify who is buried in the cemetery. The road next to the cemetery is also part of the historical folklore of the cemetery itself. Supposedly, a family was murdered on or near the road and were buried in the cemetery afterwards.

Hauntings
It comes as no surprise that Pine Hill Cemetery is famous for paranormal activity. The most famous ghost on the premises is Abel Blood, who is said to not be at rest. He is often spotted roaming the grounds trying to find his home and his wife. Abel Blood’s gravemarker is also said to be haunted. There is a finger on the gravemarker that has been reported to point up at the sky during the day and down at the ground at night.  Other visitors have reported hearing tapping noises, seeing flashes of light, and cold spots. Some have seen ghostly figures standing above the graves. The road by the cemetery has also had its fair share of reported ghostly sightings. People driving by have often seen a small child running into the road, appearing to be waving down passing cars to ask for help. Whenever drivers stop, the child disappears.

Stay curious, but always stay within the bounds of the law and show consideration for the spiritual and historical significance of haunted places.

The Abel, Betsy and George Blood gravestone was removed several years ago. The town keeps what’s left of it in safekeeping according to a local source.
