The Mount Washington Hotel is a historic AAA four-diamond hotel located in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, United States. The hotel was completed in 1902 and is situated on 6,288 acres (2,552 ha) of land leased from the United States Forest Service. It is located within the White Mountain National Forest and near several attractions including the Mount Washington Cog Railway and theMount Washington Auto Road. The hotel was built by Joseph Stickney, a wealthy railroad magnate, and operated by his grandson John T. Jeffries until it was sold to CNL Hotels ; Resorts in 2003. The hotel underwent a $50 million renovation between 2007 and 2009. It has been featured in several films and television shows, including Dirty Dancing, North by Northwest, and The Love Boat.
