The Victoria Theatre, located at 138 North Main Street, Dayton, Ohio, has stood as a witness to a tumultuous history since its opening in 1866. Throughout the years, the theatre has endured various disasters, including an arson fire in 1869 and damage caused by the catastrophic Great Dayton Flood of 1913. Originally designed for stage acting, The Victoria Theatre quickly adapted to the emerging trend of talking pictures as the entertainment industry evolved. In the 1970s, the theatre even ventured into hosting rock concerts to cater to the changing tastes of society.

Underneath the theatre lies a network of tunnels that traverse the city, providing access to the venue. Over time, extensive reconstruction, remodeling, and renovations have been undertaken to maintain the grandeur of The Victoria Theatre. Today, it remains an operational theatre that continues to host a wide array of performing arts events.

The Victoria Theatre is steeped in ghostly tales and eerie encounters. One of the most famous apparitions that haunts the theatre is that of an actress from the 1920s, known as Vicky. According to reports, Vicky mysteriously vanished from her locked dressing room after a performance. Visitors have claimed to catch whiffs of her rose perfume, hear unexplained sounds, and experience electrical disturbances believed to be connected to her presence. On the stage, her spectral form has been seen, with the sound of her petticoat dragging along the floor adding an eerie ambiance. Additionally, Vicky’s spirit has been known to manifest in the reception room and the women’s bathroom on the third floor.
