Old Tooele Hospital in Haunted Utah

Haunted Old Tooele Hospital

The Old Tooele Hospital is located in Tooele, Utah, and was originally built in 1873. Samuel F. Lee constructed it with the intent to make it a private residency. It wasn’t until 1953 that the hospital was born. It became an old folk’s home during this time period. The Tooele Hospital received a new building in 1953 that was named the Tooele Army Depot. There is also a cemetery attached to the Depot. Today, the newer building is used as a space for seniors, and the other side is now Asylum 49, the haunted attraction. It closed in 2001 and was abandoned for 5 years. In 2006, someone named Kimm Anderson thought the hospital would make for a good haunted attraction. Ever since, it has been Asylum 49, and ghost adventures still take place there to this day. The half of the Tooele Hospital that is an old folk’s home still has people living inside it. More than you’d think. There’s 59 residents living inside despite there being a haunted attraction right next door.

The Old Tooele Hospital is now open under the name Asylum 49. There are several ghosts wandering the halls of the hospital. Many of these ghosts are named and became known due to the paranormal activity around the place. One of the ghosts is known as an old man. His name is Wes, and he was a patient at the facility. However, he was suffering from Alzheimer’s. When he died, he was confused, and it is believed that confusion carried over to his ghostly form. Samuel F. Lee, the creator of the original building, is said to also roam the facility as a ghost. It is said he speaks to visitors to tell stories of his past and all he has done. There are also reports that his son, Thomas, is a ghost wandering there too. A nurse named Maria is another ghost in the hospital. There is a rumored portal inside the building that she guards, and she warns guests from going through it because it is dangerous. This portal is believed to be a passage to the after life. All of these sightings come from visitors reporting feeling like they’re being watched, cold touches, disembodied voices, mists, and glowing orbs in photos.

Stay curious, but always stay within the bounds of the law and show consideration for the spiritual and historical significance of haunted places.
