Haunted roads are streets or highways that have been the subject of urban legends and folklore, such as ghostly apparitions or other paranormal incidents. According to residents, Croisan Creek Road near Salem, Oregon, looks to be one of the most perplexing of these roads in the United States. All year, visitors marvel at the beautiful wooded scenery on this gorgeous length of spooky road. Salem, located 45 minutes north of Boston, is well known for the 1692 witch trials, in which public hysteria led to the accusation of more than 200 persons practising witchcraft, with the result that 20 innocent people were hanged.  As a result, it’s no surprise that residents and visitors alike claim that this road is haunted.

According to Croisan Creek Road folklore, a young girl was murdered by a fast automobile while crossing the road, and since then, there have been multiple sightings of a small girl and a small boy on the road. The small boy’s name is unknown, but others suspect that he, too, may have been involved in a traffic accident much earlier than the one that everyone is aware of. A ball has also been observed rolling down the road, straight past a notoriously dangerous curve on Croisan Creek Road, according to drivers. The ball is then chased by a small girl. Witnesses have also reported that there is frequently a boy on the opposite side signalling vehicles to slow down, but when drivers look back, neither of the children are visible. Local people also claim that the route is extremely dangerous since it is the scene of several accidents each year. After all, it flows down the creek’s carved-out bottom of a small canyon.

Stay curious, but always stay within the bounds of the law and show consideration for the spiritual and historical significance of haunted places.
