The History Of The Luna Mansion
The Luna Mansion is a registered historic site located in Los Luna, New Mexico. It is closed permanently to the public since it followed mandated shutdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic and never recovered financially from the events. Why the Luna Mansion is special is because it is the only Victorial, Southern Colonial structure still standing today. The Luna family is to thank for this mansion coming into existence. Their family was known for owning much of the railroad land in New Mexico. In 1880, the Sante Fe Railway workers created the Luna Mansion in exchange for passage through the land the Luna family owned. This property would eventually fall into the hands of the Torres family. When the mansion was put up for sale in 2009, the Torres family purchased it. Why they’re important is because their family-run restaurants are a staple in New Mexico’s history. They ran restaurants together for over 60 years, starting with the famous Pete’s Cafe. 

The Haunting Of The Luna Mansion
Back when the doors were open to the public, staff and guests alike saw strange occurrences happening at the Luna Mansion. For example, kitchen staff saw doors opening and closing on their own along with seeing empty chairs rocking back and forth. Another example of the paranormal activity is sound. There are disembodied voices and random noises like banging pots and footsteps heard all throughout the mansion. Guests and staff alike have heard these strange noises and reported them. A woman named Josefita, who was the interior decorator for the home, is rumored to have never left and still haunts the place. There’s also a photo in the mansion depicting two women and a child. However, the first woman claims the other woman and the child were never there.
