The Silver Queen Hotel is a historic hotel located in Virginia City, Nevada, and is the oldest hotel in Virginia City. It was originally built in 1876 at the heart of the city. The hotel is over 140 years old, and it is a popular spot for weddings. It is located in an area that still has the Wild West charm to it. Despite renovations and restorations made to over twenty of the rooms, the hotel has historic value everywhere from the bricks used to build it to the carpeting of the interior. Since this site has been open for over 140 years, it has its fair share of history. Especially haunted history. There are many rumors circulating that the hotel is haunted, and since it’s still open to the public today, more evidence is coming out that ghosts do indeed roam the halls.
The most famous tale comes from room 11. Room 11 is gorgeous like the other rooms. It has a brass bed and a rich, historic feel to it that makes it a joy to stay in. However, in the late 1800s, horrors went down there that impact the hotel to this day. A prostitute named Rosie was infamous for doing her services on the hotel’s grounds. Her story is very mysterious, and not many details are known. The thing we do know is that she committed suicide in room 11. She did this in the bathtub, but the reason behind it is unknown. Her spirit is said to haunt the place, and some guests have reported seeing her on top of the long stairway. Ghost hunters have visited the hotel and found evidence of paranormal activity including loud footsteps despite carpeted floors, voices, and strange sounds.
