Some people feel Halloween is the perfect time to contact the dead because they believe the veil that separates the world of the living from the world of the deceased is thinner on the eve of November. Holding this belief, they may make the decision to communicate with their departed loved ones with the aid of a Ouija board. A Ouija board is a thin, flat board that displays letters of the alphabet, numbers, and “Yes” and “No” and “Goodbye.” It is designed to make it easy for spirits to answer questions asked by the person operating the board.
The thought of using a Ouija board can be tempting. It may seem like innocent fun. Some people think using one is dangerous, however. These are three reasons why you may decide against using a Ouija board:
• Some people believe you can open up a door that allows evil spirits to pass through and enter your world when you interact with a Ouija board. These individuals also believe an evil spirit can come and possess you. It is said you are more at risk of becoming possessed when you are weak or not feeling well.
• Some people believe you might unintentionally invite a spirit to relentlessly haunt you when you use a Ouija board. Once it attaches itself to you, this spirit may be hard for you to get rid of. It may always be present, whether you like or not.
• Some people believe you can make the spirits angry if you ask them silly questions, which is why you should be careful about the questions you ask. There’s no telling what an angry spirit will do.
Just as there are people who feel using a Ouija Board can be dangerous, there are also those who feel its use poses no threat. A psychic and medium named Del R. Mulroy feels there is no harm in using one. Mulroy has stated that possession through the use of a Ouija Board cannot be imagined. He said that the spirits you contact have little power. His advice to anyone planning to use a Ouija board is to not be fearful of it. The board is just a tool that can help you contact someone who has died and wants to communicate with you.
If you feel uncomfortable using a Ouija board, you may be better off keeping your hands off of it. Should you decide to satisfy your curiosity, however, go ahead. Just make sure you use the Ouija board with caution on Halloween or any other day.
