Until 2015, the Bibb County Jail in Haunted Alabama stood as a haunting reminder of the past on the courthouse square of Centreville, Alabama. Erected in 1910, this magnificent Renaissance Revival style building showcased exquisite brickwork, grand columns, and imposing high walls that cast a shadow over the surrounding streets. Recognizing its architectural significance, the jail was rightfully recognized and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. However, despite its historical value, the fate of the jail remained uncertain over the years, passing through the hands of private owners, historical preservation groups, and the local Bibb County Commission.

The Bibb County Jail became a battleground between those advocating for its preservation and those in favor of its demolition.
