History
Established in 1917, this 20-acre lot is one of the most popular haunted locations in Oklahoma. The cemetery is divided into sections, with section 2 being the one famous for hauntings. Despite being quite famous for hauntings, there is no official record or even an urban legend as to how the cemetery came to be a paranormal hotspot. Instead, it would appear that the cemetery was simply built to provide resting places for the nearby town residents. However, ghostly sightings have since made the cemetery a very popular location for ghost hunters, resulting in an increase in visitors to the area. While some famous cemeteries and haunted locations in America have since become unkempt or abandoned, the Blanchard Cemetery is still active. They still hold monthly business meetings, maintain the cemetery, and are accepting new burials.
Hauntings
The most famous ghost at Blanchard Cemetery is the tall man. In section 2, there is a group of trees where a tall, young man appears wearing black pants. He usually just stands there with his hand in his pocket but he has been known to sometimes wave at visitors. Witnesses claim that a bright blue light will appear before the tall man shows up. The light will then suddenly become dim. Others say weird noises can be heard before seeing the tall man. Visitors that have been to Blanchard Cemetery multiple times claim that the tall man becomes more aggressive during repeated visits. In a few instances, he has brandished a knife at onlookers. Others say he will wave people to come over to him, which some believe is how he might possess people. No one is quite sure why the shadowy figure appears specifically under the trees of section 2. Some believe it is the original caretaker of the cemetery and is guarding his family, who also rests in the cemetery. Other ghostly sightings at Blanchard Cemetery include a little girl walking among the headstones. Some have reported hearing the little girl crying.
