Blue Belle Saloon in Haunted Oklahoma

The Blue Belle Saloon in Guthrie, Oklahoma is famed for its rich, albeit seedy, history. It opened its doors to the public before Oklahoma was even made a state of the Union. As was common on the American frontier, the saloon became a brothel for a time, gaining with it the kind of reputation that brothels get. The bordello was eventually replaced by a more traditional bar once again, but not before a revolving door of crimes, tragedies, and mysteries would pass through it, including murder. The image that the series of tenants and owners had cultivated for the Blue Belle Saloon after its heyday as a brothel has been significantly more family friendly, and they have managed to achieve varying degrees of success during these decades. Unfortunately, at time of writing, the old saloon has finally met its end and is currently permanently closed, though the building still stands.

One thing that we can be sure about is that if the building ever reopens under new management, they will inherit something more than the history and reputation of what came before them. The Blue Belle Saloon is haunted, having been the subject of countless reports of paranormal activity for the better part of a century. One apparition that is frequently sighted is believed to be Miss Lizzie herself, who was the madame of the bordello. Miss Lizzie is not the only ghost to be hanging around, though. Ghosts of men and painted ladies alike have been spotted as well. One of the ghosts is believed to be that of a bordello girl named Claudia. The legend goes that Claudia was violently murdered in the saloon, possibly by a customer, and in an effort to cover it up, buried inside the saloon itself. The disembodied sound of a crying woman that is often heard may be linked to her spirit as well.
